  1. If you want to rebuild the desktop on a hard disk:

  3.  Hold down the Option and Command buttons while you start up. The Finder will
  4.  ask you whether or not to rebuild it.
  5.  
  6. If you want to rebuild the desktop on a floppy disk:
  7.  
  8.  Eject the disk by dragging its icon to the trash. Hold down the Option and
  9.  Command buttons. Insert the disk. The Finder will ask you the same question.

  11. You will lose your Get Info comments when you do this.
